This series of images was initially inspired by seeing so many people just stand up together as they appeared to do at the beginning of the Arab spring.
Thomas is just a working engine and as such the face of the people, so reducing Thomas into an absurd Che Guevara or Chairman Mao representation is kind of the whole point.
Thomas represents the group that contains all that doesn’t contain themselves. He is the abnormal normal member who was conspicuously absent at the beginning of the Arab Spring. It’s both the beauty and the paradox of every popular revolution.
Each picture has its own story but I think these work best read together as a series.
